Testing Out The Zip & Go Beanie Wig by Encelia Hair
Hair loss & wig life is hard, right? But, does it have to be? For four years, I have lived life as a bald woman and what I find odd is that wig life is very much one-dimensional. You have a wig and that's your wig. Problem solved, right? My struggle with that is, wearing a wig successfully is hard. High-quality comfortable wigs are expensive & there is a burden attached to them. You need to take care of it correctly so it lasts. You need to style it so it looks good. But, here is the thing. I am not one-dimensional. Sure, I love it when my main wig looks good but I also like to play, move, & be alive. What I find interesting is that we have specific outfits for skiing, running, cycling, surfing, etc. Why? Because they help with comfort & help us excel in that specific sport. But one wig is all I have?
One day I realized, I don't want another wig & I don't want to wear an old wig. I want a wig that serves a purpose! A wig designed for my life. I love being outside. I was raised in Conifer, CO and I was always outside. The idea of throwing a beanie on top of my "every day" wig wasn't an option for many many reasons so I set out to design something that would help me get back outside.
I believe the wig should serve us and not us serving the wig! The essence of my ideal wig life is to wear hair that is so comfortable that I am not thinking about it or my hair loss, instead, I am present & enjoying the moment! Living my best bald life!
The Encelia Active | Beanie Wig
Sure, there are other beanie wigs or halo wigs but here is what is flawed with them. First, hats are hot, itchy, too big & way too bulky. More importantly, the synthetic hair used was not designed for activewear. It can't handle movement, wind, & heat so you will spend hours afterward brushing your wig out! There is nothing worse than spending hours after having a great day brushing a wig out! I believe this is a failed product!
Okay, so what makes the Encelia Zip & Go Beanie so different? Let's start with the hat, I'm a comfort nerd! Literally, if it's not comfortable I'm not wearing it so I made sure the material used in this beanie so soft and not itchy. It's also double-lined. This serves two purposes 1) warmth 2) realism. The jacquard design also makes it super chic and adds dimensions making it look even more realistic! Here are some more photos!
Next, the hair! The Encelia Zip & Go system features a revolutionary synthetic fiber that feels & moves like European human hair but it has the strength of a synthetic! It has a special coating that prevents it from tangling so you can literally brush it out in minutes no matter how matted up it is! As you can see, this hair is outstanding! It also looks wet when it is wet, which no other synthetic can do! It also isn't shiny & the color will not fade! I absolutely love this; it makes me feel so normal & so at peace with the hair!

Lastly, here are some recent videos of me wearing the beanie wig while sledding with my kiddos! It was cold, windy, and I was all bundled up. The hair and hat held up amazing and I brushed her out in less than 5 mins! Total win!
