The Workout Wig | Why Made It
We innovated the workout wig because working out in a normal wig is unbearable. For many of us going to the gym, doing sports or any exercise in a wig is a awful because they are hot, itchy, and cumbersome to wear. Not to mention, good wigs are expensive so many of us feel pressure to make them last as long as we can. All this causes many of us to stop doing the things that we love to do.
Our founder, Allison, who has alopecia universalis (total hair loss) experienced this first hand. She had a dream to design a wig that was so comfortable that you would forgot you were wearing one.

Workout Wig FAQs
Yes, the workout wig is 100% hand tied so it easy to wear the hair up. Ponytails, top knots, french braids are super easy to do in this wig because the headband cups the head and you don't have to worry about the edge or perimeter of the wig showing.
Yes, you can! Because the workout wig is NOT made with lace, you do not have to worry about the wig will stretching out. This wig is hand tied so we recommend pulling the hair up so it doesn't get wet but if it does don't worry the hair will be fine. Just make sure you rinse the hair and apply conditioner when you are done swimming.
Yes, you can. The heat settings for the synthetic hair ranges from 280-300 degrees. Most saunas and hot yoga rooms range from 90-160 degrees so your hair will be fine. Our founder goes in the sauna all the time. If the hair feels hot, just apply some water to the hair.
Yes, the workout wig is 100% hand tied so you can easily braid this wig. There are no styling limits - wear it up, down, curl it or wear it straight.
Yes, you can. The workout wig is lightweight, seamless and cooling so it is very comfortable to wear making it ideal for women who want to sleep in hair. Review our sleeping wig guide here
We understand how confusing it can be to understand the difference between hair types so here is a quick easy break down.
- Our Remy human hair is very high quality; the cuticle are intact and aligned. When the cuticle is preserved, the hair maintains its natural movement, fluidity, and silky texture. The thickness (diameter) of each strand is medium so the hair is not too thick or too fine. Average lifespan is 1.5 years to two years.
- Our luxury synthetic hair is an exact replica of European Human Hair, which is the finest, most sought-after, hair in the world! The hair feels, moves and behaves like the best human hair in the world. This hair curls well but is low maintenance because the hair air dyes back to it's preference style. The hair color won't fade and the hair isn't shiny. It is a long life synthetic, average lifespan 1 year to 1.5 years.
- Our heat-friendly synthetic hair is a step up from a traditional synthetic wig because the hair can be styled using heat tools and a special coating makes the hair less shiny and tangle less. The average lifespan is 6-8 months.
- Traditional synthetic hair, which Encelia does not sell, tends to be very shiny, tangles easily and the style can not be changed.
The workout wig has a medium density, which looks very natural while still being lightweight and airy. You will have enough hair to create an average size, natural looking ponytail.
The lifespan of your workout wig will vary between 6 and 24 months, depending mostly on the hair type you choose and then on its maintenance and frequency of use. More detailed information can be found here.
