Why do you need hair to workout, you already look good? This was the response that one of my clients received when she posted a super cute picture of herself wearing the Encelia Active workout wig on Instagram. This client like so many of us baldies, found ways to continue to do the things that she loves to do without her hair. For most of us, it means to brave it bald. This client would workout wearing a banada.

When I saw this comment, it took everything in me NOT to comment back because it speaks to the challenges that women with hair loss face on a daily basis.  We finally get the courage to brave it bald and then we decide to wear hair or find a different solution we are judged? Choosing to wear hair or not is our choice. The dialogue that occured in her feed resonated with me and gently mentioned the many challenges that occur among friends who have not experienced hair loss. The desire for a women with hair loss to have a moment free from thinking about her hair loss or the wig.  I created this product because I just wanted to workout like I use to before the hair loss - I wanted to have a moment when I didn't think about my hair loss or the wig.  The truth, wearing a wig (even the most expensive ones) is work.  Much like how you may want to take your bra or socks off at the end of day, l like and need a break from my wig, but, maybe I still want my hair. The reality is that before I designed Encelia Active, I had three options 1) wig, 2) go bald, 3) hat/turban/bandana.. I believe it's the polar opposites that us baldies faces on a daily basis that make it so hard for us.  Maybe I don't want to wear a wig but I still want my hair... Why is that wrong? Encelia is so comfy that I find myself wearing it all the day, not just to workout in. I wear it in the evenings, casual afternoons, on hot days or days when I just want my hair and can't handle a wig.  My heart truly goes out to women with hair loss because it literally affects every element of our lives, even basic conversations with friends.  This is why, I also think women with hair loss are some of the most compassionate, caring, strong women that I will ever meet!

In any case, this client handled it all like a super star with grace while helping explain and educate a friend why a women would want a product like this.

Just a baldie thoughts for the day..

Xoxo,

Allison
