What is the best razor to shave your head? (women's perspective)
What is the best razor to shave your head? Yes, that's right you read the title correctly. Women shave their heads too! This is a follow up post regarding what I wish I would have known prior to shaving my own head.
First things first, shaving your head as a women is big deal. Before you do it, you need to decide whether you want to save your hair because there is a certain way that you need to cut & store the hair. Saving your hair is a beautiful thing to do because you can later use it to make a wig, or you can just preserve it as a mento, which is what I did. If you want to save your hair, please watch the video below. I realize it's a pretty awful video, my apologizes in advance but it's the best one that I can find. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Next, it's time for the buzz cut. The best buzzer that I have found is by Freedom grooming. I don't have much to say about it other than it does the job that it's suppose to do.
Then, if you decide, it's time to shave your head. Here are some of the best products have have beforehand:
*Bille Shave Cream - the shea butter and olive help the razor guide making it more comfortable for you and it creates a has layer or barrier so your skin won't be inflamed, red, or itchy.
*Aveline razor - this genesis little razor was designed by a Todd Greene who one day decided to design a ergonomic handle to help men shave their heads and he has since developed a razor for women. Basically, this little razor & the handle moves and glides like a Dyson vacuum. Genesis, right? It is literally the best razor I have found for us ladies. I wish I would have discovered it sooner!
After your shave, apply some of your favorite hydrating lotion. Currently, my favorite is Dermal repair cream by Sente,F which has HSA technology that is suppose to repair the skin, stimulate collagen and do a ton of other amazing things.. I figure my head deserves a little TLC and this cream can't hurt.
Finally, about once a week I will use Kate Somervilles exfoliator called Exfolikate - all over my head, face and neck. I love that it's a gentle exfoliator that removes the dead skin without drying out my skin.
Ladies, I hope you found this post helpful - I realize you probably do not want to do what you are about to do but I figure if we are going to shave our heads we might as well do it well, right? If you would like to chat please don't hesitate to reach setup a consultation with me - link here.
Much love,
Allison
