Cancer Awareness Month | What Inspired, Educated & Shifted My Perspective!

October is breast cancer awareness month, goal is to educate, inspire, and uplift the community and general public.  But most of all, it should be about funding research.  I have been looking for ways to support the cancer community during this month & I thought I would start by just taking a moment to share some of the best bits that have inspired, educated & shifted my perspective this October!

  • Katie Couric shares her breast cancer journey with the hope to educate the public about dense breasts, which I knew nothing about. I found the interview to be uplifting, inspiring, and educational! See video here
  • A touching video of a woman who is celebrating her victory over late-stage breast cancer and the flight attendant congratulations her on the win. See video here
  • The Breasties pinkwashing awareness campaign - nothing is worse than being diagnosed with cancer. Almost all of us know someone who has or had cancer. PinkOctober/The Pink Ribbon has become money generating, a marketing tactic that brands use to get us to buy products but the reality is that very little of the profits fund cancer research & very little of it goes to support the community. Learn more about pinkwashing here & watch this insanely powerful video

This month, I will be continuing to add to this post blog so please stay tuned for updates!
