Best wig for beginners

What is the best wig for beginners? Buying a wig when you are coping with the loss of your own hair is one of the most bizarre shopping experiences you will ever have! Personally, I couldn't handle the idea of wearing a wig. When I thought of a wig, visions of the golden girls would pop in my head and I just couldn't handle that in my thirties I would be wearing a wig.

My life changed unexpectedly when I developed alopecia universalis during my second pregnancy. I was eight months pregnant, lost 15 lbs in two weeks and within a month I lost 80% of my hair. Honestly, I didn't care about my hair loss in the beginning; I just wanted a healthy baby & yes that dream definitely came true for me. It wasn't until four months postpartum that my hair loss really started to affect me - within a week I lost all my eyebrows, eyelashes, and all regrowth (also known as alopecia universalis). I recall my mother-in-law saying, it's time for a wig and we went shopping with my four-month-old in the back seat. For about three days straight, we went to every single "wig shop" we could find. I absolutely hated it and settled for a cheap synthetic wig that I later would be call my "soul sucking" wig. I know, I'm being dramatic but honestly, most wigs are, soul-sucking. They are hot, itchy, & often poorly sized.

My search for a good wig, one that resembled me, continued & I became obsessed with wigs. I learned about lace fronts, European human hair, got2b, & different cap constructions. The reality is that 90% of all wigs are awful & 10% are incredible. But, the incredible ones are outrageously expensive! They are delicate so you need to know how to manage & maintain that kind of wig.

The truth is that wearing a wig all day, every day is work, even the best ones! Like I said above - they are hot, itchy, and often poorly sized. And at the end of the day, many of us just need a break from the wig. But if we want hair, we are given one option - a wig. While there are hundreds of wig caps for us to choose from there are zero options for women who want hair but don't want to wear a full wig. Why? Because manufacturers & factories aren't wearing the products that they make so they are not super-inspired to design comfortable wigs because they aren't spending all day in them! In their mind, the wig is the only solution and I personally challenged that belief.

Frustrated with traditional, poorly-made, mass-produced wigs, I was inspired to design the best wig for beginners. I wanted an easy-to-wear wig for the modern baldie that was so comfortable you can sleep in it!

The Ponytail Wig by Encelia takes all of the hard parts of the wig away - no fake-looking lace front, itchy material, or poorly place ear tabs. The Ponytail wig is comfortable, secure & ultra-realistic! The MotionKnitX headband is attached to a partial hairpiece, which is hand-tied for total styling freedom - braids, top bun, ponys or just wear it down. It is made with ethical human hair (yes, I said ethical) that is free of silicone, textile dyes, and Henna so you can color it to any color you desire!

It is an easy, realistic wig that I would have absolutely I had had when I lost my hair and my hope is that it will help others with hair loss comfortably, and confidently live their best lives without needing to worry about our wig or hair loss.

Xoxo,

Allison
