Hats with hair - Encelia's patent-pending zip n go hat system was thoughtfully designed by a baldie. Wearing a hat on top of a full wig isn't fun. Hats, in general, are hot, bulky, itchy so when you combine that with a full wig get ready for some serious heat. Hat halos didn't work for me because I was so terrified that my hat would come off so I would end up not wanting to move because I was so worried.
Rethinking hats with hair for the hair loss community has not been an easy task. In this post, I wanted to highlight the design of the hairpiece, what we call "hat hair". If you prefer a video, please watch it here.
To start, it is the back half of a wig. Why, is the top bald? Because the hottest part of the wig is the top and heat is the biggest problem most of us have when wearing hats so I wanted to solve that by just removing it completely.
Secondly, as you may know, I am a complete comfort nerd. If it's not comfortable I'm not wearing it. The wig is double-lined to prevent inversion from occurring. Inversion is when the hair comes back into the cap and it is the main reason why wigs are itchy. The hat hair is lined with the same lovely material that is used in the workout wig, which is very cooling, stretchy, & breathable. It was also extremely important for the hairpiece to be extremely durable so we went with a closed-wefted design.
The hat hair also features six stays 1) two located in ear tabs 2) two located in the nape or back 3) two long temple stays. The temple stays are special because they allow the wearer the freely adjust the placement of those ear tabs based on what is comfortable for them.
The PU tabs in the ear tab and nape allow the wearer to bond the hat hair on with wig tape or glue. It is not necessary to bond this hairpiece on because it zips and the hat and the hats are designed to fit well but if you prefer to bond your piece on that can be done.
Lastly, the hair, the zip & go hat hair features what we call European Fiber hair. It is unlike any high-grade synthetic you have ever seen. The special coating on it has a low shine factor. The coating also prevents it from tangling allowing the wearer to do extreme sports & only spending 5mins afterward brushing the hair out. It also looks wet when wet, which no other synthetic can do. Finally, hair that reflects how you feel. If you are hot and sweaty, your hair should be too.
